EATING DISORDERS

If you have an eating disorder or think you might have one, I bet you are really suffering.

Your suffering might be invisible to others. Or, for some, you might hear, ”Oh, I wish I could be like you, how do you do it?” Oh, if only others understood the pain, the fear and the anxiety you endure day after day, they would not say such things or ignore such things. But they don’t understand.

Are you struggling with restricting your food, severe body image issues, purging your food through exercise, laxatives or vomiting, binging on food, or any other eating disorder-ish type of behavior? If you are, I know that you are living under relentless, strict and cruel rules and ideas to live by every single day.

I call these….

The Tricks, Lies and Bullsh**t of Eating Disorders

  1. Always be productive
  2. Be perfect. If you are not perfect do something to change that
  3. Always appear to have it “all together”, like you are “going places”
  4. Everything you do must look effortless
  5. Always try to be better because you are not good enough as you are. No one will like you as you are
  6. You must not ask for help. Asking for help is weakness
  7. You must lie to your family and friends so you can keep on doing these behaviors (like restricting or binging, etc.)
  8. Be you own strength because others will let you down
  9. Not needing food or even water makes you superior to others
  10. Don’t act like you have needs or desires
  11. Do not find pleasure in food.
  12. Don’t give others the opportunity to judge you
  13. Don’t tell if something bad has happened to you
  14. Always compare yourself to others to “stay on track”
  15. Always act happy

If many of these rules and ideas sound familiar, then you are indeed suffering. And you don’t have to.

I have worked with people struggling with eating disorders for 12 years and I bet that together we can stop your eating disorder from ruling your life. I have seen so many women and men take their power back from eating disorders and create the fulfilling life they want.
